Orthopaedic Programs at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital

The Orthopaedic Program at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital offers many services through our surgical department.

Total joint replacements, including hips and knees, sports medicine, and foot and ankle procedures account for the highest number of procedures performed at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. Hundreds of orthopaedic cases are performed each year by our expert surgeons.

In recent years, the Orthopaedic Program at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital has made a number of investments in state-of-the-art equipment and tools to provide expert care for our patients.

Orthopaedic Surgeons and Program Team Members

We offer one of the most complete Orthopaedic Care Programs in the region, with leadership from fellowship-trained, board-certified physicians. Orthopaedic Program team members at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital are highly skilled in orthopaedic procedures. They focus on providing patient care with complete satisfaction.

Our othopaedic physicians provide specialized care for joint replacement and sports medicine, as well as treatment of the back and spine, foot and ankle and knee and shoulder. We also have specialists in pain management, rehabilitation, and arthritis.

The Orthopaedic Unit

The Orthopaedic Unit includes 33 comfortable private patient rooms. Fourteen of those are within the Total Bone and Joint Center at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. Patient rooms include fold out couches for family members.

A dining area on the unit provides a nice setting for patients and their families to share a meal together.

A physical therapy area is also located on the unit and is supported by an in-house Physical Therapy Department. The physical therapy area provides an opportunity to conduct group therapy sessions, allowing patients to support and encourage one another through their recovery process

Patient Care

The Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Orthopaedic Program provides an innovative approach to patient care including pre-operative patient education classes and music therapy.

Through the pre-operative patient education program, classes are held each week providing patients the opportunity to learn more about their procedure and decrease their anxiety prior to surgery.

Music therapy is offered in the holding area prior to surgery and throughout the patient’s stay. Music therapy provides a decreased focus on pain and an increased satisfaction level.
