What is a Model System?

The Model Spinal Cord Injury System program, sponsored by the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), supports innovative projects and research in the delivery, demonstration and evaluation of medical, rehabilitation, vocational and other services to meet the needs of individuals with spinal cord injury. Spinal Cord Injury Model System

Frazier Rehab Institute, along with physicians and researchers from the University of Louisville, are proud to be designated as a Spinal Cord Injury Model System. Frazier Rehab is one of only fourteen centers in the nation to receive this designation. All centers collaborate to share patient data and advance the science of spinal cord injury treatment.

The model system program is funded by a grant from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) at the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is currently active through 2016 and funds a research project to better the field of spinal cord medicine.
